Turn Your Yard Into Dinner

9-month Yard-to-Dinner Workshop Series, Feb-Oct

Join a workshop group. Ed and Kathy will share their knowledge on a year-round farming cycle, and you’ll learn a lot from the group, as well. We’ll also keep in touch through a weekly email update, and be available for additional mentoring by phone, text, or email.

Workshops meet during the second full week in each month.

Curriculum - In addition to monthly topics, you’ll share what’s happening in your garden, and we’ll do our best to address your questions.

Dates and curriculum will be flexible to accommodate weather and participant questions and needs.

February: Welcome, Ed & Kathy’s roles, your vision, year-round farm cycle, tools & materials, planning your space, starting seeds, building beds, pruning, cold weather care of hens

March: Raised beds, soil prep, starting seeds, managing and harvesting the cold frame

April: Thinning, transplanting, direct planting, compost, pest control, hens, bee basics

May: Transplanting to outdoors & raised beds, planting in pots, watering, pest control, planning for occasional absences from your farm or garden

June: Weed control, mulching, hot weather care of hens; pest control, compost, using and enjoying your produce

July: Pest control, harvesting garlic & onions, planting, preservation, prep for Aug 1 fall planting, planning for seed saving, more ideas for using your produce

August: What to do with all these tomatoes and peppers, bees (honey harvest), planning for next year (crop rotation, etc.), seed saving

 September: More harvest, seed saving, building a cold frame, continue planning for next year

 October: Planting garlic, cold frame planting, HARVEST PARTY!
